"Musical theater vet Krysta Rodriguez has landed Smash‘s third and final new series regular role, TVLine has confirmed.
The actress, who played Wednesday Addams in the Broadway musical The Addams Family, is joining the NBC drama as Ana, Karen’s fun and spunky new roommate who is looking for her big break on the Great White Way.
Rodriguez’s TV credits include guest-starring onGossip Girl as a quickie crush interest for Nate (see video, below).
Smash Season 2 — which will also be adding Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Newsies‘ Tony-nominated Jeremy Jordan, and up-and-comer Andy Mientus, while subtracting Ellis, Dev, Julia’s hubby Frank and Michael Swift (and ditching Julia’s scarves) — is set to premiere at midseason."

They are. In fact, almost every single one (If not all of the cast) at some point worked as understudies/workshop of Spring Awakening. I wouldn't be surprised if they all knew each other.

According to EW, she's an "ensemble member in Broadway shows trying to make her mark". I think this is probably what was supposed to be Courtney, the dancer with a voice that befriends Karen.

8 singers. This could get messy. And prob means less numbers for Kat.

Yeah I love that they actually cast broadway stars. It adds to the uniqueness of the show and I love all the musical numbers-- even if Kat isn't involved in them. So yeah, I hope this leads to more music.

Yeah true.. I know how they said they don't wanna overdo it with music so the story can stay strong, but hopefully they succumb and realize that the musical numbers are what makes the show more enjoyable.

You say that Nothy, but watch some of the critic Kat haters go on how every single one of these singers is more talented than Kat

I def think they'll have more musical numbers this season, esp as they have hired more songwriters and choreographers

Yay for Kat getting a new roomie altho "spunky and fun" is usually Tue type of character I hate

Never realized how awkward of a singer Wes is.

I like Leslie and think he has one of the show's better voices.

I don't mind if Katharine has less music numbers this season, given so many of them were unnecessary before. I do love getting new music from her weekly of course, but whatever benefits the show. And sometimes less really is more - she can make more of an impression then and hopefully have a few moments.
