But I'm afraid it's going to very, very hard to compete with masterpieces such as Mad Men, Homeland or Breaking Bad

Anyway, it's still amazing to see Smash amongst those, it completely deserves this recognition

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the category, but it seems like Best Cast may be more for the casting directorFunny how Smash wasn't nominated for Best Drama even though there were 10 slots (Fringe? Come on). And yet it made the short list for Best Cast. I guess it did have everything going for it.....except for (consistent) quality writing.

There are so many possible ones. The Wikipedia article that shows Glee's nominations and wins is a good start. Gay-oriented awards like things from GLAAD, Emmys, various critics and journalist awards, Teen Choice Awards, Golden Globes, People's Choice, Satellite Awards, AFI, Grammys (for Soundtrack and maybe songs), American Music Awards, ALMA Awards (but I don't think there's any Hispanic actors/characters on the show?), Art Directors Guild Awards, BAFTA Awards, Directors Guild Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Peabody awards, SAG, Writers Guild, etc. This is my first time actually following a TV show this closely. Does anyone know all the precursor awards we should be aware of?

Heck, even if no one here criticized the show and all loved it, we would still probably be surprised if it got any nominations because we're always worried that no one else got Kat.I'm glad Smash is getting any love considering the stuff I read on this site throughout the season from fans and critics alike. I guess that goes to show that while some of us are viewing Kat's career through rose colored glasses, others are often hypercritical and over-analyzing. I have always maintained that I cannot be objective when it comes to Kat, and honestly I don't see how anyone could when we are so invested.

Regardless of the Smash love, I do think it's rubbish that Anjelica has gotten a nom over Kat and Megan
.... I don't think she did anything near enough to merit a nom, given how crappily Eileen was written (sorry Mark

) . What I mean is, she did the best with what she was given, but can anyone really remember an award worthy Eileen scene?
Maybe the Degas scenes in Episode 4 but thats about it.

I wouldn't characterize it as deeply flawed, just flawed in some parts, but I guess it's subjective and a matter of opinion.Smash is still deeply flawed. It's just got redeeming qualities like its art direction, cast, and guest stars.
