Final ratings for episode 14: 1.8 in the demo, 5.72 million viewers.

I'm going with 6-6.5 mill, 2.2 demo! A 22% increase in the demo seems big, but I'm going for it!

Actually, I think total viewers will fall between 6.3 and 6.8 mill.

6-6.5, 2.1

And I feel like I'm lowballing a little? I hope. It all depends on AGT and whether or not they have a different audience than The Voice, who will be exposed to Smash for the first time.

6-6.5, 2.1 --- and that would be a disappointment. So hopefully more!

This one is hard to guess. It's going to be a very competitive night, as the CBS comedies other than Two Broke Girls will have their finales, it's the finale for Bones and the series finale for House, and the Bachelorette will premiere. The Bachelorette will be 90 minutes paired with a 90 minute DWTS. Last year it premiered with 9 million viewers and a 2.8 demo rating. On the other hand, America's Got Talent premieres with Howard Stern. Last year it premiered at the end of May with 15 million viewers and a 4.3 demo rating. Its ratings will probably be better than last year's because of people tuning in to see Stern and what controversy will ensue. What I suspect is that we'll see a situation similar to Smash's premiere, in that we'll get a large number of AGT viewers in the first 15 minutes and then a big dropoff.

So I'll be conservative and guess 6-6.5 million viewers and a 2 in the demo

I forgot about H50. So yes, H50 finale and the last hour of the 90 minute premiere of the Bachelorette.

Although the promos aren't advertising them, Nick Jonas and Bernedette Peters will be in the finale. The Jonas Brothers twitter account is tweeting about Nick so at least those followers know about it.

Not that it matters that much, but next Monday is not the series finale of House like I thought. That comes the week after.

I have a feeling that AGT is going to do really well with its premiere, even against tougher competition. It's normally a ratings winner for NBC during the summer, usually getting around 12 million viewers for its premieres in June, and managed to snag 15 million viewers in its premiere last year at the end of May. I think Howard Stern will be enough of a ratings draw, at least initially, to give the show some really good opening numbers. At the very least, if it can manage to do better than The Voice's 10.74 million viewers and 3.8 demo rating for last Monday's show, then it should at least help Smash's ratings.

I was expecting a bigger increase, I think. Not sure how this will translate to overall viewers. Still it's good it increased. :) It was 4.4/7 last week and now it's 4.6/8. AGT's not amazing return didn't help, I guess.

Can't wait till we start the thread for Season 2 Premiere :D

onday 5/14/12 Metered Markets
ABC Wins; Respectable Return for America’s Got Talent on NBC

Household
Rating/Share
ABC 8.7/14
CBS 6.8/11
NBC 5.9/ 9
Fox 4.5/ 7
CW 1.2/ 2

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Monday 5/16/11
NBC: +97, CBS: +24, CW: - 8, Fox: -12, ABC: -32

----------

-Winners:
Dancing With the Stars (ABC), America’s Got Talent (NBC), How I Met Your Mother (CBS), Two and a Half Men (CBS), Mike & Molly (CBS), Hawaii Five-O (CBS)

-Honorable Mention:
The Bachelorette (ABC)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
Gossip Girl (CW), Hart of Dixie (CW)

----------

-Rating Results:
ABC finished first in the overnights on this second Monday in May despite competing with the return of America’s Got Talent, now with Howard Stern, on NBC. Second overall was CBS, which featured a night of season-finales, followed by NBC, Fox and, of course, The CW.

A 90-minute edition of Dancing With the Stars on ABC topped the night with an 11.4 rating/17 share from 8-9:30 p.m. One year earlier, a two-hour edition scored a 14.9/22 on 5/16/11. Next on the alphabet net was the 90-minute season-premiere of The Bachelorette, which kicked-off with a 6.0/ 9 from 9:30-11 p.m. Comparably, that was right on par with the 6.4/11 for its two-hour year-ago launch on May 23, 2011. Consider this a positive return for summer guilty pleasure The Bachelorette.

Here is the half-hour breakdown for ABC last night:

Dancing With the Stars (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 10.7/17 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 11.3/17 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 12.2/18 (#1)

The Bachelorette (ABC) – season premiere
9:30 p.m.: 6.6/10 (#3)
10:00 p.m.: 5.9/ 9 (#2)
10:30 p.m.: 5.6/ 9 (#2)

On NBC, the return of America’s Got Talent was on the map with a 6.6/10 from 8-10 p.m. And that was, comparably, on par with the 6.7/10 for the two-hour final performance show for The Voice one week earlier (which translated into 10.74 million viewers and a 3.8 rating/10 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day ratings). But one year earlier, America’s Got Talent returned with a considerably stronger 9.2/15 in the overnights on Tuesday, 5/31/11. Note to NBC: Wait until the traditional season is over before you bring back America’s Got Talent.

Considering there is every reason to believe America’s Got Talent will increase in the less competitive environment next week, this is a “winning” return. What did you think of Howard Stern as the new judge? http://tinyurl.com/7jyno8k

At 10 p.m., Smash on NBC concluded its first season with a typical third-place 4.6/ 8 in the overnights. While certainly not a hit, you have do give the network credit for keeping Smash in the time period with originals for 15 consecutive weeks.

On CBS, a one-hour season-ending edition of How I Met Your Mother finished third with a 5.6/ 9 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was eight percent above the 5.2/ 8 on the year-ago evening. Next was the season-finale of healthy Two and a Half Men (#2: 7.5/11 at 9 p.m.), followed by the wedding of Mike & Molly (#1: 7.6/12 at 9:30 p.m.) and the second-season ender of Hawaii Five-O (#1: 7.3/12 at 10 p.m.).

Elsewhere, Fox filled the night with the season-finale of Bones (#4: 4.8/ 7) and the second-to-last episode of House (#4: 4.2/ 6), which officially concludes next week. And The CW aired the season-finales of Gossip Girl (#5: 1.2/ 2), which will exit next season, and surprise returnee Hart of Dixie (#5: 1.3/ 2).

oh well don't really care about these numbers anymore...i'm sure NBC considers a lot more than just these numbers. esp based on whatthey were saying about multiple viewing platforms at the upfronts yesterday

Just for reference, from TVBTN on AGT: the season premiere of America's Got Talent earned a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating, compared to a 3.8 in the time period for the finale of The Voice last week and a 4.3 for last year's season premiere on June 2, 2011. So AGT probably had too much competition to do great compared to its usual premiere time. But it did nearly comparable to the Voice's performance finale.

The total viewers will probably be adjusted down to 6 million in the final numbers as usual. Let's hope the demo doesn't get adjusted down.

Truthfully, I'm a little disappointed the demo didn't rise. Perhaps the finale was too Broadway for the younger viewers?

Also from TVBTN for comparison:
On CBS, the hour long How I Met Your Mother season finale earned a 3.6 adults 18-49 rating up from a 3.3 for its most recent original episode on May 1. For comparison, last week the hour long finale of 2 Broke Girls got a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating. Two and a Half Men's season finale garnered a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating even with last week. The Mike and Molly season finale scored a 3.3 among adults 18-49, up from a 3.1 last week. The Hawaii Five-O finale earned a 2.7 among adults 18-49 up substantially from last week's 2.3.
On ABC, a 90 minute Dancing with the Stars scored a 2.4adults 18-49 ratin from 8 to 9 and a 2.9 from 9 to 9:30, compared to a 2.7 for last week's two hour episode. The 90 minute season premiere of The Bachelorette earned a 2.6 among adults 18-49 from 9:30 to 10 and a 2.5 from 10-11 , compared to a 2.8 for last year's season premiere.

That does not make any sense. I can't believe the demo didn't increase? It even went down from last week and its a Season low? And we are talking about the Season Finale (with Nick Jonas and all that).

Well I'm definitely disappointed. I have been annoyed with the latest ratings but kept being told that it was the Spring effect and that the Season Finale would increase as that's what always happen. Well, it happened with all the other shows finales but Smash. We can't even really consider that tiny bit of increase in overal viewers a real increase considering it was THE Finale.

:(

VSW, usually ratings go up with Finales, but truthfully it doesn't happen with every finale. If you've seen my ratings posts in the TV thread, you'll see that this spring has seen some finales down, some even, and others up. Bone's finale was even with its previous week, I think Two Broke Girls fell for its finale and so The Good Wife.

It will be interesting to see what the Live + 7 Day DVR ratings show for this episode.
