I don't want Karen to get the role of Marilyn! I want her to be completely free for some new even better role in Season 2.

Even if she gets the role of Marilyn, that doesn't mean she can't take another role in a few months time. Many Broadway roles seem to recast actors after 3-6 months these days. I've read that people used to spend a year in a role and now it's maybe 3 months much of the time and 6 months seems to be the limit. Most of that is probably due to TV and movie actors coming in to take roles and they don't usually have more than 12 weeks to spend on the role.

Just because she gets it in Boston doesn't mean she will be it come time they bring it to Broadway, IF it makes it to broadway. that goes for whoever gets the part, not just Karen

I think I read somewhere that the season ends without no one yet knowing who IS going to be Marilyn.
Sooo maybe Derek´s decision is regarding something else? I think he will choose Karen either way though.
Or maybe the decision is just quite simple: Karen plays Norma Jean and Ivy the older Marilyn as everyone says.

05/14/2012 (10:00PM - 11:00PM) (Monday) : "Bombshell." The big night is finally here. Tom (Christian Borle) and Julia (Debra Messing) race against time to save the show, while Derek (Jack Davenport) makes a decision that will change the lives of Karen (Katharine McPhee) and Ivy (Megan Hilty) forever. Ellis (Jaime Cepero) reveals his true colors. But when he finally makes his move to save "Bombshell," will it be for or against Eileen (Anjelica Huston)? So what does life changing mean--you're both going to play Marilyn, or guess what girls, while Rebecca was off battling with the peanut monster, we finally got Scarlet Johanssen! Or Gwyneth Paltrow. Or Leigh Conroy is coming out of retirement. What the hell, she'd make as good a Marilyn as Rebecca. I love Uma but good god. I mean really, Joan Crawford did that to her daughter once.

Some tv guide spoiler scoop on the finale here, but I'm not sure it tells us anything we don't already know, other than, I really hope the finale is just a whole bunch of Karen as Marilyn performances

It's opening night! Bombshell will open —but not on Broadway just yet —and the final Marilyn will take the stage. Who will it be? Rebecca Duvall is clearly a diva disaster and Megan Hilty tells us that "things are going to get a lot worse before they get better" for Ivy. (Pills! Also, look for Bernadette Peters to return as her mother, who won't exactly be supportive upon her return.) In our minds, that leaves small town ingénue Karen as the first preview's lucky leading lady, right? No matter who first dons the platinum blonde 'do, viewers will be treated to a near-complete Bombshell production.

I know I have been banging on about this for months now, but if Derek makes a decision that affects both Karen and Ivy's lives forever, it has to be that Karen gets the part and Ivy goes off to pop some pills right?

Ivy is all effed up about her mother, about Derek and Rebecca, maye about Karen, and maybe juggling a lot of pills, and then karen is all effed up about Dev and RJ and maybe about Rebecca, if she found out she was trying to get her fired, and maybe about Ivy, if she found out Ivy stole her song, and REbecca is off getting her stomach pumped and having hives all over - so maybe Derek decides, screw it, they're both crazy but at least they can sing if I can figure out the right combination of stick and carrot to keep them working at it, so they'll both play Marilyn at different stages of her life. That way he could have them both fighting and cooperating, because they'd both actually BE Marilyn but still trying to outdo each other so they'd have to sing their asses off trying to show everybody who was the best. Good trick if he could manage it.

I wouldn't take the 11th hour so literally Jenn. Kat just probs meant you have to wait until the finale Then again, remember some clip of Rebecca singing lmbys on stage, and she is def performing it in front of an audience. Omg what if that's when Rebecca has her peanut allergy attack, and Derek has to choose Karen or ivy real quick to take over for the rest of the show?

I think Rebecca gets some peanuts right before the show, but she can still perform; she just can't sing. She does all the acting, but her ~shadow~ selves do all the singing and dancing.
