dunno where to put this...

Katharine McPhee claims the #1 Breakout spot on the Billboard Dance Chart with her infectious dance pop single Touch Me from the NBC hit series SMASH.

Touch Me was remixed by DJ Kue and Jump Smokers, both of which are receiving significant play across the U.S. Listen to the ‘Smokers remix below.

If Touch Me can hit Top 20 on BB Hot 100 after wide release. That would be great for album to sell more!

That's so not gonna happen.

And what exactly this "breakout on Billboard Dance Chart" means?

Unless I'm misunderstanding this, it sounds similar to the Bubbling Under chart for the Hot 100 chart, in that it's close to entering the Hot Dance Club Play chart but hasn't quite gotten there yet. Or maybe it means it jumped the most recently to enter the chart.

According to Wikipedia, the Hot Dance Club Play chart is compiled by nightclub disc jockeys, so it sounds like it's only being played in nightclubs. I'm not sure how it would be receiving significant play across the US or it would have entered the Hot 100 chart, unless they are referring to nightclubs and not radio. Perhaps someone familiar with the dance charts and club play can further enlighten us.

Is the Hot Dance Club Play chart equivalent to the Rhythmic chart on Mediabase?

Last night at a private party, Circuit Party DJ Roland Belmares played a remix of Touch Me!!! Wow, I guess I was a little tipsy but it was awesome!!! The remix really picks it up and makes people dance their ass off! And DJ Belmares will be playing in Gaydays Orlando (huge dance event in June) and I'm sure Touch Me will be in his playlist! Can't wait!

The Idol Chatter radio play chart didn't have Touch Me on the list for last week. I'm not finding it on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Song chart, but that only goes to 25. Perhaps it's being played mostly in clubs and not enough on the radio to chart on the Idol radio list.

This may explain it better. From the Pulse Music Board, there's a topic for the Hot Dance Club Play chart that shows the full chart for the previous week (I think actual week ending May 6) from this source:

So I think when they show the chart for this past week, Touch Me will be #36 on the actual chart. You can't see it on Billboard's site, because the chart only goes to #25.

ETA:
According to Wikipedia, the chart is of songs most popular in US dance clubs, so the song won't necessarily be found on Mediabase's radio charts unless it gets radio play (or more of it if it already is)

I still think this isn't that big of a deal since it seems like it's for music played in a certain number of nightclubs. But I also don't know how many nightclubs there are.

idkwhattoput posted this in another thread:

Don't know where the touch me thing is, but it went up to #24 on that chart, up from #36!

And I don't know if that should be any big deal as the chart is a survey of DJs for nightclubs and not radio play. I guess it's a hit in dance clubs, but that doesn't sound like that big of a deal to me, but I don't know how many nightclubs this chart represents. Perhaps Cesar understands it.

McJP, that's similar to what I posted in Post #27, though that was the actual chart through 50. Next week we'll see it as #24 on the chart and we should be able to see it on the Billboard site since their public chart goes to 25. And in that case, we'll be able to show it on her discography page on Wikipedia since it will then be available on the Billboard site and therefore can be used as a reference. I don't know why it's not listed under her name on Billboard, but maybe it takes time to update their site.
