Tired of reading comments saying that Katharine's voice is entirely "edited" and "autotuned" on Smash or that she can't "emote" and has no "soul", so I'm thinking it's a good idea to keep these flawless vocal performances at hand~So use this thread to post her most powerful live performances and her rawest studio vocals that really show off her ~prowess~ vocally and/or emotionally.

This is my favorite vocal of The Prayer. The Foster & Friends one was auto tuned and I think it takes away from how great it is.

I wish there was some kind of professional recording of Kat performing Somewhere in Boston last summer. It was incredible and perfect. She held the final note flawlessly.

I was there. It was really emotional because they had just told the story of the quadriplegic iraq war veteran who couldn't speak anymore, and you could tell Kat was really affected by it. I was practically crying the whole time she was singing it.

Always loved the high drama in this performance. I think this helped her catch Spielberg's eye~ since he saw that she could act and be theatrical.




This is still so joyous to watch and listen to. It's a bit underrated now, I think. A very soulful vocal, and there's something in her voice here that we sadly haven't heard since she "perfected" her technique.

I love that performance with meatloaf it was so damn dramatic, it reminded me of the phantom/christine scenes.

I must admit, i disliked the way she sang beautiful its an anthem and I felt it lacked the key power notes which made it so powerful, but now I understand why she was restrained in her approach, she had to capture Karens timidity and insecurities which she did brilliantly.
